Light & Love

Some stories begin on a page. Others begin long before the words arrive.

Light & Love is the literary heart of Kalida Corner, a home for my stories, poetry, and books. Much of my writing begins with something small: a memory, a place, a conversation, an image, a feeling that stays, or a question I am still learning to understand. I write to listen more closely to those moments, to preserve what matters, and sometimes to discover what the words themselves are trying to reveal.

The name Light & Love holds a meaning close to my heart. Light, to me, is both what guides us and what lives within us. It is the truth, hope, faith, and goodness we carry, even through seasons when they may be harder to see. Light invites us to look inward, to recognize who we are beneath the noise of the world, and to have the courage to let that truth be seen.

Love carries truth as well. It connects us without asking us to lose ourselves. It lives in the people we cherish, the places we remember, the grace we extend, and the courage to remain open to life. I have come to understand love not as becoming less of who we are for someone else, but as having the freedom to stand authentically in who we are while still making room for another heart.

These are the threads that find their way into my writing: memory and place, truth and hope, belonging and becoming, the things we hold onto and the things we eventually learn to release. Some words have helped me understand pieces of my own story. My hope is that when they reach another person, they may offer a moment of recognition too: a feeling of being understood, a memory awakened, a question worth carrying, or simply a little light when it is needed.

That is the heart of Light & Love: writing that begins from something true, reaches toward another heart, and leaves a little light behind.
